ABOUT THIS PROJECT

A series of community workshops to engage citizen scientists in protecting and enhancing the Tallow Creek and Belongil Creek ICOLLS in Byron Bay.

Participants will learn about their function and significance for coastal management, particularly in the context of fisheries and climate change impacts; as buffers to coastal inundation and 'blue' carbon sinks.

Participants will collect data and establish a knowledge repository of both formal and informal knowledge. This will inform strategies for restoring the health of ICOLLS. Informal and indigenous knowledge of the sites will be add to the formal data collected.

Participants will develop plans of action to rehabilitate ICOLLS and advocate for ICOLL awareness and protection.

PROJECT WILL COMMENCE IN MARCH 2023
